Owen Reader is an Electrical Engineer with over seven years of experience in the Renewable Energy Industry in the Caribbean and Canada. He works with individuals and project developers to develop the technical design of photovoltaic power systems. He leads them through the initial proof of concept, application development, detailed engineering design for construction, and the final commissioning process.
Acquiring a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, he developed his engineering and project management knowledge through several industry placements at some of Canada’s top companies, such Michelin North America, Irving Oil, and Fleetway Inc. He then acquired a Master of Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy Systems from the University of Leeds in the UK. He got his start in the renewable energy field in Canada, designing and managing the installation of several commercial systems before moving back to Barbados to work as the lead engineer for one of the top EPC companies on the island. While there, he worked on over 200 residential and commercial projects, designing and installing over 20MW of PV systems.
The Renewable Energy projects that Owen has designed have eliminated an estimated 50,000 metric tons of CO2 and will continue for years. Owen’s designs are based on energy efficiency, system quality and reliability, and grid stability. Owen is embracing electrical design challenges to support BESS and EV-to-Grid initiatives and sustainability in infrastructure projects.
